The most significant expansion occurred in the north-east, south-west (Via Mazzini) and western (district of St. Francis) where this tower was erected, which was so called (Tower of the Old Slaughterhouse) because it belonged to the benefit of ‘altar dedicated to St. Mark’s in the Collegiate Church of St. Lucia, who sold it to the municipality to settle the slaughter of the country, next to the entrance urban.
