The museum of sacred art of Montemonaco is housed in the former church of San Biagio, an ancient place of worship dating back to Roman. The collection houses numerous wooden sculptures from the city area, including will be remembered a crucifix of the thirteenth century from the Church of St. George Island, a Madonna Art Abruzzo and Marche of the early sixteenth century, some superb works of the seventeenth century made for the church of Tofe, as the Guardian Angel, Our Lady of Loreto by Sebastiano Sebastiani and another sculpture of the same subject exhibited in Toronto in 2002 on the occasion of World Youth Day. From the church of San Lorenzo in Vallegrascia comes a rare frontal embossed leather and painted from the early seventeenth century, while the church of San Biagio Island exposes a processional cross dated 1788. The paintings, in addition to the Madonna del Soccorso (1521) of Amandolese painter Giulio Vergari and a Madonna of the Rosary dating from the late sixteenth century, was presented for the first time the shovel with San Biagio and St. Anthony Abbot, recently discovered and attributed to Pier Leone Ghezzi (1674-1755). This is an important early work that will add to the work left in the Marches by the Roman native of Comunanza, recognized among the leading painters of his time, as testified, among others, the titles of the Academy of San Luca, painter of the Apostolic Camera and the protection granted to him by the popes and the most prestigious families of Rome.
