Antiquarian of Carassai was inaugurated in ‘in October 2008 and is located on the first floor of the municipal building. The formation of the initial core dates back to the ’50s -‘ 60s and is the work of Msgr. L. Zega, who collected materials sporadic surface (especially pottery fragments, coins, bricks) from chance finds. In the 80’s the small collection has been enriched with other archaeological materials surface. The museum has about four hundred exhibits, more than half of whom are from the Roman period, with the presence of a small number of materials pre-prehistoric and pre-Roman. The materials all come from the territory of Carassai: mainly from the area of Rocca di Montevarmine, from the village of San Vito and the necropolis of Sant’Agata, but also by a number of agricultural land located near the river Aso and Menocchia. And fragments of pottery from the Bronze Age, the collection boasts a number of products made in the time frame that goes from the Piceno (VII-VI century BC) and Roman (from the late Republican era to the late Empire) until the Middle Ages. You can watch necklaces and bronze objects dí female ornament attributable to the Piceno civilization, as well as architectural elements of medieval and post medieval such bases of columns, tanks and holy water. The museum is enriched by an interesting permanent exhibition of old photographs, suggestive evidence of Carassai a time.
