Chiesa di Santa Maria in Spino

The Church of St. Mary in Spino is located in the hamlet of Nasuto in Comunanza. The church already existed in 1381, which, though in an advanced state of decay, retains all the simple beauty of rural medieval interior zones of the Piceno. It has clean lines, built in brick, with square blocks of “sponga” and in the basement, with local stone. Obvious are the many changes. The small entrance is in the right longitudinal wall. The interior has a nave with a trussed roof. The altar is placed to the right of the door, behind it, in a niche, is still visible, a fresco depicting the Madonna and Child, style decidedly fourteenth. Other frescoes depicting saints, partly covered with plaster, are visible along the inside perimeter.
