Centobuchi (in English, “one hundred holes”) is the most populated area of the Monteprandone’s territory. Its growth is due to the development of the agroindustrial, mechanical and manufacturing businesses. It is also a very dynamic district, due to the presence of many young families. Surely, the name “Centobuchi” is quite strange. One might ask where this name comes from. From the research of the historian Saturnino Loggi, we learn that a Monteprandone map of 1753 informs us about a palace called “Palazzo di cento buche” (One hundred holes’ Palace). The reason of this name depends on several holes in the walls of this palace, made up to support the scaffold’s poles needed for doing the elevation of the building. So, in later centuries the surrounding village took its name from this building, which doesn’t exist anymore. On the contrary, Centobuchi is become a developed area.
