It has an annual life cycle and produces its grayish-green berries in the period of August, about a month after flowering. The Lands of Piceno, the Anise is grown mainly in the municipality of Castignano, thanks to the peculiarities of soil and climate (Badlands). The Anisetta Meletti owes its success to the use of green anise Castignano, where, in the late 800 and early 900, annual production reached 80 tons.
