The tower of St. Francis dating back to the thirteenth century. On the external façade preserves important tuffaceous slabs, one of which is carved the oldest representation of the emblem Municipal (shield containing two pieces of chains willing to St. Andrew’s Cross). The door of St. Francis was only one of three gateways to the country, which always was surrounded by walls with a total length of almost 8 km. Another door has been preserved in the west of the country, by way of Piagge; the door of the same name, however, was remodeled. The third and final door, which no longer exists, opened just before the Cottage Verrucci.
