This museum is named after Guglielmo Allevi, remarkable figure in the history of the city and author of several archaeological findings in Offida and its surroundings between 1873 and 1890. This museum consists of the Allevi Collection, sold to the Town Council after his death. The collection is still worth admiring though many pieces have been moved to the Luigi Pigorini Museum in Rome, while a bronze situla dating back to the Picene Age is now kept in the British Museum in London. The Museum was refurbished during the 1970s while the historical and teaching sections were extended in 1896, on the centenary of Allevi’s death. The archaeological area develops through 5 rooms: the first room is dedicated to Allevi’s life and literary activity; the second room gathers handmade products from the middle Palaeolothic to the upper Neolithic Age; the third room includes items from the Iron Age; the fourth room is completely devoted to the Picene civilization and the fifth room displays items from the Roman and Longobard Age.
