Situated in the center of the country, the Church of San Giovanni Battista is a Romanesque building dating from the first half of the fourteenth century; entirely in brick, robust, reddish in color, it has elements of the Renaissance because of repeated renovations over the centuries XV and XVI. The primitive building is very old, perhaps the eleventh century; currently corresponds to the right side door. Lintel in travertine shows: HIC EST PORT PARADISE (Here is the gate of heaven). The rigidity of Romanesque and Gothic art influences recall the origins of the church at the time Farfense. In all likelihood the town center stood a small church, perhaps a building adapted to a Christian church. In the second stage, needing a larger temple to accommodate a greater number of the faithful, was demolished the old building and built a larger church, with features common to the churches Farfensi. The present building the central axis has undergone a rotation of 180 °. How many churches of the nearby Abruzzo, the new facade is a horizontal coping with brick arches and the beautiful rose window of the previous church. The interior is divided into three naves and contains frescoes from various periods, including the figures of St. George and St. Anthony of Padua, a painting by Simone De Magistris, Pentecost, dated 1589 and a Pietà Terracotta XV century.
