The original structure of the church, of monastic origin, had to go back to the eleventh century and was a single nave, in the axis oriented towards the west – east, with the extension of the semicircular apse to the east. With subsequent interventions were added a fifteenth-century tower leaning against the facade, a second aisle, communicating and parallel to the left side and the sacristy on the opposite side. Sandstone lintel of the door of the main entrance is engraved in the year 1535 with the name of the parish priest who promoted the restoration and expansion: At the time of the pastoral visit of Monsignor Tsunamis of 1573, the tower was still working as a bell ; was later added to the structure to sail for the planting of two bells. You enter the nave oldest through cryptoporticus, obtained at the base of the massive tower fifteenth.
