The Church of St. John the Baptist of the fourteenth century . was the ancient seat of the Order of the Hermits of St. Augustine since 1373. In 1652 Pope Innocent III wanted to suppress the Order and all the other convents of Italy ” poor substances and individuals ” so that the revenues of the church It was added to the parish of Ferra . From then on , the pastor of Ferra , moved to Montemonaco assuming the title of Prior . The church , with a single nave and apse with a Gothic style , has an altar , but previously there were other altars dedicated to St. Charles Borromeo , the Blessed Conception and San Francesco di Paola . Inside it is preserved even a shovel of the ” Lady of Salvation ” in 1521 by Giulio Vergari , a painter of Amandola.
