Probably such wooden crucifix, a real masterpiece preserved in the very heart of Italy, had been the observer of many events passing through this land during the last centuries. It is still preserved in the Church of SS. Annunziata, located in the hearth of Arquata. This is a superb crucifix made by two monks: fratres Francesco and Berardo, in the XIII century. It originally comes from the Church of S. Salvatore di Sotto in Ascoli Piceno. It represents a real war trophy for the Arquatans, which reported a victory after a fight against the people from Ascoli in 1680.
